How to get there?
The easiest and most common options are to fly into JRO and drive or shuttle to Karatu or take direct road transport from Arusha. Self-driving is also quite feasible and rewarded with great views along the route.
By Air
Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Located about 2.5-3 hours drive from Karatu. Flights arrive here from international hubs like Nairobi, Addis Ababa, and Dar es Salaam.
There are no direct flights into Karatu. You must fly into JRO and then drive.
By Vehicle
Drive from Arusha, a paved road connects Arusha to Karatu, approximately 90km or 1.5 hour drive. Arusha has connections via road and air from across Tanzania.
